The 5 Tools Experts Say are Needed for Woodworking

  • No matter what your budget there are tools that you can purchase that will help you get started in woodworking One of my favorite places to go is Harbor Freight seriously if you have never heard of them check them out by pressing that button. In my area, they have the best prices for tools and that is where I go for everything.

    So a few basics;

    Hammer

    Obvious right! But there are different kinds of hammers for different projects but seriously any kind will do.

    Tape Measure

    Again, obvious but you would be surprised how many times I got calls from friends working on projects and they did not have a tape measure.

    Utility Knife

    This is great for scoring lines and other various cutting needs. Also, always be sure to have extra blades handy because when working with wood those blades do have a tendency to get dull and you don't want to have to stop in the middle of a project due to a dull knife.

    Clamps

    Unless you have the ability to grow a third and fourth arm and hold things PERFECTLY still then this is a MUST!

    Speed Square

    Drawing lines on lumber and having the ability to square up two pieces of wood is something that will come up from time to time…this makes it simple.

    And there you have it. The 5 things all experts say you need in order to start woodworking.

    What do you think? Did we leave anything out?
