When we pack for a day hike or a camping weekend, we bring what we'll need for that specific period of time. We want to keep our load light since even the thought lugging around a bunch of equipment seems exhausting. Since we don't like to think about the worst case scenario, we often don't properly prepare. We may not be ready for a trip into the wilderness either because we don't have the right equipment or the right skills.
We can learn from a man who was able to survive 71 days in the Australian desert. He was having an ordinary day until something unfortunate happened to him. All of a sudden, he had to call upon his primal instincts in order to survive. His story is a reminder that we must prepare for the unexpected whether it's for a SHTF event, a day in the wilderness or even a car trip through the desert.
