If your fish of choice happens to be striped bass, then you've probably found that catching these elusive creatures can be, well, a bit challenging…which is probably a massive understatement. Striped bass often lurk behind trees or boulders, and may even hang out in eddies and depressions that allow them to move along with the current and minimize the amount of force they have to exert to get around.

For this reason, it can be pretty tricky to lure them to the surface and get them to bite on your hook. Live bait usually does the trick, but not all fishing areas allow it, and sometimes even that's not enough. In fact, some rivers simply don't have any striped bass, so you have to know where to look for them and how to coax them out once you've found them.
