This incredibly effective mouse trap requires materials that most of us have lying around the house anyway. You'll need screws, a coat hanger or stiff wire, scrap wood (a 2×4 works best), a clear plastic bottle that still has the cap, and gorilla glue. You may also want a few washers.

The mouse trap designer discovered that the mice were jumping out of the water bottles in his previous models, so, he used a bigger bottle cap this time around and pressed the tip of a screwdriver into the cap. This allows the mouse to go into the bottle, but the frayed edges of the cap makes the mice get caught when they try to escape. The bottle cap should end up looking like it has a star carved into it when you are done inserting the screwdriver.

You’ll then use your gorilla glue to attach two small magnets onto each side of the bottle cap.

Now, it’s time to build the rest of the model. First, you will use your scrap wood to build a ramp for the mouse to walk up. You can place one piece of wood as the base, then attach another piece at an angle, creating a slight ramp. You’ll have a third piece of wood standing upright, with a screw inserted into the top.

Next, poke a hole in both sides of the bottle and outline the hole with glue from a glue gun. You’ll then bend your stiff wire so it’s in the shape of an arm.

The bottom of the wire should wrap around the screws that should be placed on each side of the wood to make a hinge. Then, just put something in the bottle to lure the mice (we like sunflower seeds) and leave the trap out overnight. The next morning you should have caught one or two, which you can then dump elsewhere.
