One of the most important things we can do as survivalist is to learn what our ancestors did to survive off the land. After all, cowboys had to live without the modern conveniences we have today. They needed to be able to find water, keep their cattle and themselves from going hungry and be aware of and prepared for any danger they may be faced with.
When a collapse occurs, we might find ourselves living off the land just like they did. By learning what supplies they carried and packing similar supplies, we can make sure we are truly ready for anything. This information might even be what keeps you alive!

I agree that they carried a rifle and probably a pistol, but the article should’ve made a comment about shotguns. Although the shotgun can’t shoot as far as the rifle can, it can kill small game a lot easier and that could mean the difference between life and death.
