These Yard Tools Are Worth The Splurge

  • When you're at the home improvement store, it's easy to fall into the salesperson's trap. They seem to convince you that you need top-of-the-line tools for your yard. You might also want the latest and greatest gadgets. They might be more expensive, but you've persuaded yourself it'll save you some time and effort. Once you get to the checkout counter, you realize the tools and gadgets add up quickly. Which ones can you trust to repay you for your investment?

    Rakes

If you're going to splurge on only one tool, this is the one. When looking for a rake, make sure the handle and rake head are sturdy. Get a steel rake rather than a plastic one.

    Garden Hose and Nozzle

Most garden hoses are made from rubber or vinyl. A rubber hose can be quite expensive and heavy, but they're a lot more durable than vinyl ones and can handle extreme weather conditions.

    Lawn Mower

Most people prefer owning a gas-powered lawn mower because it has plenty of power and can last a very long time. However, they can sometimes be difficult to start and do need regular service. Purchasing a good plug-in machine is another great option, as it doesn't need as much maintenance. Plug-in mowers don't have quite as much power as gas ones and, of course, there is the extension cord.

    Pruning Shears

Figuring out what pruning shear is right for you will depend on your needs, as well as the size of your hands.

    Wheelbarrow

A wheelbarrow can save you a lot of time and hassle, making it easy to move compost, rocks, soil, and more. It's best to look into buying one made out of steel with rubber wheels.

    Gardening Gloves

It's worth splurging on a high priced pair of gardening gloves, which can save your hands from getting scratches and calluses—and save you from purchasing new pairs over and over.

    Shovels

Consider buying a newer model with an ergonomic design that is made with stainless steel. You should also select a shovel that is the proper length for your height.

Have you invested in any of these yard tools? Are there any we need to add to list?
