The Most Common Mistakes To Avoid To Have A Successful Indoor Garden!

  • Many of us enjoy fresh herbs and vegetables when we cook. This means that having an indoor garden has always been a dream. Unfortunately, many of us struggle to get the results we want when we try to plant indoors. You might be surprised how much avoiding these common mistakes can really make your indoor garden thrive!

The Most Common Mistakes To Avoid For A Successful Indoor Garden Are:

    1. Being unrealistic.
If you are going to grow plants that, otherwise, need lots of space outside, you may need to reassess what you’re doing. A fully grown plant is going to be much bigger than the seedling. Perhaps you need to plant something else.

    2. Not giving the plants a chance.
Some seeds need to be planted deep within the soil, while others need to be planted just below the surface for optimal growth. Some need darker environments, while others will not grow at all without as much light as possible. Do your research.
    3. Not watering properly.
In general, you will want the soil to be damp but not wet.  Make sure you dampen the soil before you sow the seeds and then – after planting — cover the container with clear plastic until the plants are germinated. Check the plants daily to make sure they are not drying out.
    4. Not providing enough light.
Since it might be difficult to provide your new garden with an adequate amount of natural light, you may want to think about an alternate source of light, including grow lights. Your new plants will need about 12-16 hours of light a day.
    5. Not providing the right environment.
Proper temperature and air circulation are essential in the early stages of indoor gardening. Set your containers in an environment where these things can be controlled.

If you want to have a great indoor garden, it still takes hard work just as if you had one outdoors. You have to make sure you are realistic about what you can grow in the space you have. Some plants may not grow as tall and are better if you don't have much space. You also need to know what kind of environment the plants you want to grow need and figure out if these plants are the best for you. It is also important to make sure the plants get the right amount of water and light so they have the best chance of growing well. If you make sure to pay attention to these things, then you will avoid the common mistakes and have an incredible indoor garden every year!
