Strange & Common: Vegetables Planted By Our Ancestors

  • Imagine a world without grocery stores. Those aisles full of endless products have suddenly disappeared. What would you plant in your garden to survive?

On first thought, you'll probably think to grow tomatoes, strawberries, carrots, potatoes, corn, etc. Our ancestors had other ideas.

The ability to garden wasn't simply a hobby or a way to relax centuries ago. It was a means of survival. One that you and your family could not live without. A family may not have even had a luxurious and lush portion of land. They may have simply owned a small plot with which to garden so they needed to maximize their output with minimal space. They discovered vegetables that could fit their unique needs and you'll be amazed at what their gardens contained.

Let's take a look at a list of interesting vegetables our ancestors planted to survive!
