I have been blessed to have grown up in a very rural area. Where I am from horse and cattle farms reign supreme, and it provides a beautiful scenic drive as you are coasting down the road on a bright day.

Today I passed an area just further south of where I am from that I am not too familiar with, but on this trek, I found some of the most beautiful green countrysides. One of the benefits of living in the south is that even during winter some of the fields are still green.

I couldn't help but think that it would be great to grab up one of those pieces of land, build a house, maybe have some animals and a lovely garden. I texted my husband this, and he has yet to reply although it was probably the part about buying a large piece of land that got to him.

But this got me thinking, even if I did purchase some of this land where in the world would I begin? What animals would I even buy? So of course, I had to do some digging and what I have found I compiled for you on the next page.

It's a great list of animals that are excellent starting points for any homestead so read it over and let us know what you think. If you're an experienced homesteader what do you suggest?
