Okay, so you have your water, your medical kit, your garden of food and enough game meat stored to last a few years and all of the protection you will need when suddenly…the lights go out and the world is dark.

You, of course, don't worry because you are prepared for even the longest of blackouts…that is until someone has to go to the bathroom. Yeah, It's a topic that most people don't like to talk about but it needs to be addressed unless we want to have waste in the streets again like it's the dark ages!

Now if you're super duper prepared you have probably already built yourself an outhouse or some form of off the grid system and have nothing to worry about however for those of you who haven't listen up because there is a simple (albeit short term) solution and yes it involved kitty litter.

• a 5-gallon bucket,
• some construction bags,
•  a pool noodle,
•  some kitty litter.

The process is super simple,

1. put your bag into the bucket,
2. attach with a cut up pool noodle
3. and insert some kitty litter.

There you go, a makeshift potty that keeps you from having to lug and waste valuable water and attempting to force the toilet to work. There is a reason that the kitty litter is important as it keeps the smell down and makes for easy clean up and no spills. So many people neglect this item but it really has its uses. It's also great if people get sick indoors.

Again,  this is not a long-term solution, we will discuss that in another post.
