How To Master the Bowline Knot

  • The bowline knot is simplistic and easy enough for anyone to learn.

One of the hardest things about learning to tie various knots is that after a knot is subjected to a heavy load many times they're difficult to untie but this one remains one of the easiest knots to release.  Some have titled it the “King of Knots” because of these facts.

If you are an avid sailor or rock climber then you may already know this knot as it is used in both sailing and rock climbing quite frequently and while this may not be the simplest knot to tie at first once you have it down it will become indispensable for you. So pay attention to this short video below that shows you how to make sure your bowline knot is secure.

    • Wrap the line around the standing line and back down through the loop (around the tree and back down the hole).
