How To Make Rope Out Of Duct Tape

  • So as I'm sure you can imagine it's a complicated sounding process that is actually extremely simple. Seriously a child could do this, in fact mine have. I won't tell you that they used it to tie up their siblings during a game of Capture The Flag but I will tell you that this rope is extremely effective and with the right set of hands difficult to undo.

    You will need

    Duct Tape

Something solid to anchor against. If you are out in the wild you can use any tree branch or place a nail in a tree and use that. The point is that the object it's anchored to is immovable.

    Directions

Once you have your items you will want to attach the duct tape to the anchor point ensuring that the tape is wrapped securely around the anchor point.

Then you will want to pull the duct tape out as far as you need the rope length to be and cut. Place remaining roll of duct tape aside and use a stick or other similar item as a handle sticking the duct tape onto it. Now one end of the duct tape is attached to the anchor point and the other is attached to your makeshift handle.

Now you will want to put tension on the duct tape and twist it. You want your rope to be tight, so make sure that the tension is enough to give you that nice tight rope you need. Then cut the rope off at the end of your anchor and there you go. A makeshift rope that you can use for anything.
