How To Make a Pocket Shot Slingshot

  • The first thing you will want to determine when you are making your pocket shot is what size do you want it. There are many sizes out there and you have your choice of them, however, I will give you one tip, keep it small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. You want something that is easy to access and quick to use. You can determine how big you want it by looking at the various bottle caps you have around your home on bottles of juice or sports drink. The best ones to go with are Powerade black bottle caps because not only are they a great size but black helps to conceal it more.

Once you have decided on size you will want to pick up that bottle of Gatorade, Powerade etc and start chugging. Once the bottle is empty grab the nearest saw and start cutting.  You will want the bottle cap to be flat so be careful when cutting to make sure you are at the right angle.

One the bottle cap is off you will want to start sanding off the rough edges.

Once that is done and the surface is now flat and smooth you will want to take off the plastic ring that is around the bottle cap but you do NOT want to cut it off. You will need this ring to help secure the sling portion of this project.

Next, now that you have the plastic ring off you will want to take a balloon and cut it about a quarter of an inch up the neck of the balloon. Make sure it is a straight cut and once you have that then you can take the balloon and place it over the bottle cap. Make sure that the end of the balloon is all the way up the bottle cap and there are no wrinkles. If there are simply pull the balloon back until it is covering the bottle cap but without wrinkles.

Now you are going to want to make sure that the balloon portion is centered with the bottle cap and when it is you will want to replace the black ring to the bottle cap over top of the balloon. Once you have that you are then going to take your thumb and glide the balloon over top of the thread on the bottle cap until it is right above the black plastic ring. This will give it a professional clean look.

Now that you have everything secure you are ready to begin using your pocket shot. We will warn you that these things are quite powerful so do NOT use them in a manner that would violate any federal, state or local laws. Below you will find a before and after shot of a 24oz bottle that was filled with chalk dust to show the power of these slingshots.

As you can see it can pack quite a punch so be careful. I’ld rather carry a few feet of surgical tubing in the car/truck . So much easier and can be used for siphoning as well .
