How To Forge a Knife Out of a Railroad Spike

  • While I wish I had the ability to create these masterpieces I must admit that I do not. I am however, fascinated by others ability to look at a piece of metal and see endless possibilities.

When it comes to survival knowing how to work with metal is a skill that makes you indispensable which could add a bonus for you when it comes to protection. After all who wants to hurt the one person who knows how to make weapons!! You're too much of an asset.

So let's look to someone who has such a skill and see how he takes something as common as a railroad spike and forges a useable knife out of it.

Can we get more written instructions instead of videos? It’s nice to be able to copy the instructions down and paste them into my notebook on my phone.

Railroad spikes don’t make particularly good knives or cutting tools of any sort. The metal is too soft.
