Gardening Resolutions To Keep For A Successful Garden

  • 1. Use what you have

Sure everyone says they want a garden but that they don’t have enough space, the right tools, the time. The list goes on and one. What I think is that the only thing they are lacking is perspective! There are many ways you can have a garden without having to have wide open fields for planting a full-fledged fall harvest. We have written many articles suggesting that you plant things upside down indoors or articles about ways to utilize the space that you have. Although be careful if you have pets because some plants are not good for them if they are ingested.

    2. Choose the right plants

Not every garden is perfect. Sure if you purchase a copy of Better Homes & Gardens the photos you see will make you feel like your thumbs are black and not green however that does not mean anything. If you look at those gardens they are tended to carefully and the produce, flowers and fruit are all region specific so their chances of growing to be blue ribbon winners increases.

    3. Start your compost bin

We cannot say enough about this idea! Seriously the benefits of composting are vast, and it uses are numerous. It will help your garden grow, and if you take a look at our website, there are other things you can do with it as well. (here's looking at you hot water

    4. Keep your tools in top shape

This should go without saying however I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people gardening with half broken tools. Sure Duct Tape fixes everything but should it!

    5. Know what you’re planting

I only wish plants lived off the motto one and done however they all require various forms of care and maintenance. If you are wanting to plant a specific kind of fruit or vegetable make sure you know what you are doing or at least know where to get the information from! This will help you get the most out of your garden

    6. Keep a garden diary

Dear Diary today my sprout grew a whole mm…okay obviously we are joking with that, however, tracking your progress will help you for future crops. Once you have a pattern down you can effectively plan for the next round of growth.

    7. Create a garden scrapbook

Ahhh Yes, the scrapbook. Every gardener's dream. Endless pages of photos showcasing your abilities as a world class gardener. What this actually does is help you get a visual on how you want to grow your crop next year which you will find super helpful!
