Best Survival Weapon for $100

  • Survival weapons are a must when planning a bug out bag or shelter. In particular, firearms which tend to be the priciest part of any survival kit.

Sure, they're expensive, and nowadays you have to jump through hoops just to get them, but by not having them you're putting yourself at an extreme disadvantage.

This applies even more so if you're facing a wilderness survival situation as hunting will be something that is unavoidable. In , an urban situation with civil unrest or a long-term survival situation where you eventually will run out of your food supplies.

You can make an argument that without a firearm in each of those three scenarios, your safety and health are directly affected, depending on what you do or do not have!

Luckily, even if you can only afford the bare bones when it comes to firearms, you do have options.

On the next page, we discuss one option for an inexpensive, durable and very effective firearm: The Mosin Nagant Rifle.

Agreed and recently, I saw a whole rack of them, your choice $99.

You can buy a Russian sniper rifle but a Mosin Nagant isn’t a sniper rifle. It was a infantry weapon made to equip peasants cheaply. Prepper fashion trends jack up prices to a ridiculous level. Good rifles considering most are 50 to 100 years old. Don’t pay over a $100 for one. The only advantage to a Mosin was that you use to be able to buy a rifle and a spam can of ammo and “stash” them some where for less than $200. Most Mosins take a gunsmith to put a scope on them. Buy the time you spend money to accurize a Mosin you can buy a newer used sporting rifle that will serve your needs and will use modern ammo that you can buy, trade, or forage.

What can a 7.62x54r do? Take larger game. So for small game you would need a separate weapon. Or you could take a good pump action shotgun. Even a .410 bore would work on taking up to whitetail sized animals and as small as squirrel.

I wonder where they got their prices from. The rifle and 880 rounds for under $500? I haven’t seen anything close to that in years!

These are awesome rifles, sadly you can’t get one for $100 anymore. More like $300-400 now. The 8mm mauser is a great choice and can be purchased for as low as $200. Can’t go wrong either way.

Don’t forget single shot break barrel shotguns. They shot anything that fits down the barrel and you can load shells with black powder just need a primer witch isn’t hard to make with matches

excellent guns…..cheap to buy…not to expensive to shoot…and can take down anything it needs to

Its possible to find one dor $100 but growing more harder. I e owned many and used them in all sorts of ways. I love Mosins. If at all possible put several rounds thru it before you buy it. Research which one you want. Some are Chinese and some Russian. Ive onky owned Russian.

Where can you get this for 100.00? Lowest I’ve ever seen was 235.00. If anyone has a lead to a legal sale for 100 bucks count me in for 3 or 4.

I collected these till I wised up. Too many variations of the rifle. I still shoot them but I would advise any one buying one to first learn to clean them thoroughly after shooting. The surplus ammunition in 7.62x54R is extremely corrosive and will eat you barrel up if not neutralized. We use hot water with Dawn detergent to swab our barrels and bolts after shooting then proceed with normal cleaning. Same would apply to the British .303 round.
Also don’t go crazy and alter the gun with expensive hardware. It does not shoot better and actually decreases the guns value.

I have one; it’s a good shooting gun. It’s not the prettiest of guns, but it will do the trick and that is exactly what you need. Also, just as Grinnan said, you need to clean it after shooting, because most of the ammo now, for the gun, can be very corrosive and eat up your barrel. 🙂

I have a 32 tula. It’s a perfect rifle for most big game and works freak against hard targets like cars and will punch through most armors. I won’t sell mine for anything as with iron sites I can hit huge distances with a bit of work.

    13. Charlie Clabbers said:

Need to be careful when buying these. They are not all good. Some have worn out muzzles. And pitted up barrels. They won’t shoot good if that is the case. Do your research first.
The second thing is the market is dryer up on these till the sanctions get lifted on Russia. The prices went way up and they are hard to find now. Before you could get them anywhere.

I would disagree with a cost of a $100 but they dont cost must more than that. If anyone has a Dunams close to you this is the place to buy them. Get them around Christmas time for a great deal. The “sardine” cans of ammo are on Sale too.

      A $100 lol……. Not anymore. I have 3 in the gun cabinet.

    16. John said:

You can buy a Carcano for $100 but the sniper model costs more.

    17. Robert Rinaldi said:

Umm Mosins havent been under $100 for a few years now. Sale price is closer to $200 normally abiut $230 and up depending on condition.

    18. James Stealey said:

Not at all a perfect survival weapon pictured here. 1. Ammo is difficult to come by. 2. The length of the firearm makes it difficult to pack over rough terrain.
Honestly the AR is nearly the perfect survival firearm. It’s compact ammo is readily available and it has a high capacity magazine meaning more rounds can be stored in the firearm not taking up space in your pack.

    19. Robert Rinaldi said:

And if you ger 22lr conversion you have the option of two calibers. All you do is change the bcg and magazine.

    20. Robert Rinaldi said:

If you want a cheap rifle that is accurate and reliable has an easy access to ammo and easy to carry and dont mind the looks the Highpoint carbine would be the way to go. Yes i know its ugly and poor build but it is more accurate then your average shooter and is very reliable.

    21. Michael Johnson said:

God. Not this BS again. Please!! PLEASE. show me where one can buy this gun for $100

    22. RS Eaves said:

One of the toughest ever made. Military surplus rounds are easy to come by but the game rounds can be found. If you buy one go ahead and spring for the aftermarket rubber butt piece. It’s worth it!

    23. Grinnan Barrett said:

Figure you will pay just under $200 for one. Know that the surplus Ammo is HIGHLY corrosive so when you shoot it clean it right now. They tend to be very accurate. If you buy a model 44 don’t take off the bayonet as it affects the accuracy of the gun. And don’t buy stupid accessories that actually decrease the guns value. It is darn near a 130 year old design. Not my first choice of survival guns and I collected them. Lol. Yes I do shoot them including my USA production guns.

    24. Bruce Lawrence said:

You cannot purchase his weapon for under $100 in my area I would say the Mosin-Nagant right now is going for about $189 at the local big box gun dealer it is however a very reliable gun and has killed millions and millions but as stated above the ammo is typically highly corrosive it it must be cleaned immediately.
