7 Places To Keep Items Safe in a SHTF scenario

  • There are many things you will want to keep out of sight from every person that walks into your home. It could be money, passports, firearms or maps to bug out locations and where to access your food and water. No matter what it is these are not things you want everyone to have access to.

    1. Underneath Your Fridge

Put the items in a plastic, sealed bag to ensure that they aren’t found an intruder. Most will not think to look there.

    2. The base of a Garage Door Device.

The box that controls your garage door is an easy place to hide emergency cash while ensuring that no one in their right mind will check there.

Now this next one isn't as surprising but could come in handy

    3. The Vents In Your Home

While this one has been around for quite some time it is still worth mentioning as in a rush an intruder or someone trying to get your information may not think to look there.  You can store money or any other valuables. It’s less conspicuous than a safe, and if you lock it, it’s just as secure!

This next one is one of my favorites because I love anything having to do with secret compartments and this one utilizes one that you can have in any room however for this example a kitchen is used.

    4. Have a Secret Compartment inside of a Drawer

In the photo below you can see that this egg beater is really the handle for a secret compartment! You can store whatever you want in there, and easily access it whenever you want.

Net we have an amazing use of office supplies!

    5. Use Binder Clips To Hide Important Things

It's a smart idea to use binder clips to hide important documents in tight spaces. That way they’re easily retrievable, but no one will think to check there for something valuable.

    6.  Utilize Your Door For Smaller Items.

Simply drill a large hollow spot in the door and use it to keep money and a valuable USB drive with sensitive information on it. This is very clever but only useable for super small items or items that can be folded up into it

    7. Dummy PVC/Metal piping can provide a safe hiding spot.

This is another great one. Not only can you create a GREAT hiding spot that no one would think to look but it can also add a cool aesthetic to your home.

      I thought the same thing…..
I always find it funny when they do this.
If you set something out in the open nobody would notice, they would walk on by.

The article covered some good spots, but I’m sure there are more.
I would imagine that those of us using some really good ones would not want to give them up so readily, lol. But, here’s a couple ideas:
      1. A false power outlet, or even a working one. But using a 4gang or multi-gang box would provide storage space that cannot be seen
      2. A false clean-out in the back yard provides a good amount of space for keeping small valuable items
      3. A cigar tube inside the top of a door like this….

You need to carefully video log and record on paper every single thing that happens around you for one city block, just in case travelers from the future want to know who killed us

There’s always gonna be a misuse of technology that wasn’t what it was invented for (a stun gun in the hands of a rapist, etc. NOT calling you a rapist 😉 ) and although I’m hoping your reply was an attempt at humor, sarcastic or otherwise; my point was for people to get creative. I wasn’t listing any places I use personally 🙂

I specialize in things like this. I’ve been paid to even drill a core out of a tree and replace the plug doctored with growth hormones so it can’t be detected unless you xray

Once I go to school and learn module training I’ll design lockboxes and rooms you can’t access unless you put a magnet on the right tree branch to signal the mag-lock to disengage downstairs without the proper manipulation of an acid based cylinder lock held in place by rice-paper.

Rice paper being wrapped around a cylinder of vinegar. If manipulated wrong, it breaks and the message with it
