Most dedicated Preppers and survival enthusiasts have a thorough plan for if a catastrophe occurs, as well as a complete emergency kit to help them survive everything from a power outage to environmental contamination. However, not everyone includes a gas mask in their kit, or even thinks about making or buying one. After all, a gas mask seems a little old-school, and many of us associate it with the air raids of Europe during WWII.

However, as is often the case in Prepper culture, old-school is often best, and can protect you from any number of disasters. Buying a gas mask can be expensive, but you don't something fancy or pricey to get the job done. In fact, you can make your own gas mask that's cheap and basic but also incredibly effective!
