    When it comes to shooting a shotgun, there are several things you have to consider if you want to get the most accurate and powerful shot. Your choice of ammunition is certainly one, as is your concentration, your aim and your timing, among many other things. There's one other factor that is sometimes a source of debate among shotgun enthusiasts, and that's choke.

    A choke is essentially a way to constrict a shotgun barrel in order to control the spread of the shot, which helps the user enhance both their range and their accuracy. But is it really necessary, and does it even offer enough of an advantage for all the extra trouble? Well, that's something we're going to look at here.
