4 Dangerous Things We Should Let Kids Do

  • Play With Fire!

As children grow and develop there comes a time when they need to learn how to control one of the most elemental forces of nature. Intake, combustion, exhaust, these are just some of the concepts that children learn when they have the opportunity to play with fire in a controlled environment.

    Own A Pocket Knife

Before you cringe, think about it. A pocket knife is so many things and it is a universal tool that when learned how to use correctly can be an asset in a child's life. It's a sad fact that children get lost all too often. Having this tool on hand may help them to survive.

    Throw a Spear

This is something that humanity has been doing to survive long before throwing things became a sport. There have been studies done to show that knowing how to properly throw things actually helps in brain development. Throwing is a combination of the analytical and physical and helps children develop their concentration skills.

    Deconstruct Appliances

This one is super fun as it gives children an insight into how things work. It familiarizes them with the process of building and forces them to think through problem-solving skills. It teaches them that there is a hand on way to figure things out and that they are not limited by what is in front of them.

It's through our good intentions that we limit our children. It is out of fear that we do not allow them near the fire yet if we teach them to respect it, to understand it then we are not only allowing them the opportunity to learn about tangible items but we are giving them the ability to translate these ideas into other aspects of their life thus setting them up for a life of well-rounded success.
