Guess it's true what they say…everything's bigger in Texas.
Over the past week or so there has been an image that has been making its rounds on the internet of a “13-pound bullfrog that was found by Markcuz Rangel.
When you look at the photo there is no denying that this is a HUGE frog however per the South Texas Hunting Association not everything is as it seems. While yes, the frog is one of the larger ones found in the area it is not quite the 13 pounds the internet has been claiming it to be.
The two images were shared by the South Texas Hunting Association Facebook page (below) along with the caption: “Wanted to share a monster bullfrog we got yesterday afternoon at one of our fishing ponds in South Texas ranch located in Batesville tx 13lb [5.8 kilograms] monster frog!!!” Since it was uploaded last Thursday, it’s been shared over 250,000 times and thousands of comments, most of which say something like “holy sh*t!”
The largest frog found on the face of the earth is the Goliath Frog which measures around 12.6 inches and is found in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea, not Texas. What we are seeing is more than likely a camera trick known as “forced perspective.”
For example, if a person stands close to the camera and reaches towards the sky to “hold the moon” they are not actually “holding the moon.” Thus forced perspective.
Now, this is not to say that the frog caught in Texas is not a HUGE bullfrog but 13 pounds may be stretching it just a bit.

It’s just like every picture you see of a massive fish… it appears larger than normal because of the way it’s being held. The frog is being held in the guys outstretched arm. By holding it closer to the camera it appears to be very large. It’s just an optical illusion. If you see a picture of someone holding a fish or animal in front of them in a photo you can guarantee they are doing it to make the animal appear larger than it actually is.
Who believes what is in any media these days, deception, lies..

30 years ago,I saw my deaf friend Frank killed an huge bullfrog and weighed 9 lbs and he used his shotgun to shot at bullfrog. Huge bullfrog can swallowed an whole body chicken or cat or small size dog.
It came from fukishima. And yes it wieghs 13 lbs.. the dude nailed it with a few lbs of lead shot….
I guess everything really is bigger in Texas.
It seems a shame that they killed this frog.
