This $30,000 Off-The-Grid Home is Really Cool!

  • One Couple Used Simple Materials to Make an Environmentally Friendly Abode

Tiny homes have been all the rage the last few years; in fact, it seems like they might just take over and spell the end of all those “McMansions” that were once so trendy and sought-after. Going green and being off-the-grid are two other popular lifestyle trends, and what could possibly better than combining all of these? Well, that's just what one couple in Bisbee, Ariz. have done. This pair constructed a tiny home of about 600 feet using straw and cob – and only spent $30,000 to do it!

Their tiny home is one of the coolest things we've ever seen, and it's incredibly environmentally friendly, too. The pair incorporated solar principles into their off-the-grid home, and have customized other parts of the construction to optimize its location and account for things like Arizona's heat and intense sunlight. It sounds like a complex process, to be sure, but also well worth all the effort!
