Many of us tend to get too warm with the heat on and we really want to use the AC instead. However, we don't want our energy bill to be any more than it already is. Also, we might need to have our AC repaired. When you want an easier and cost effective way to have AC, you can use these steps in this video to turn a fan into an AC unit. You'll be stunned by how well it works!
The Supplies You Need To Gather Are:
Your fan
One Fountain Pump
Some Cable or Zip Ties
Two Vinyl Pieces Of Tubing (cut to the length you require)
Some Copper tubing (about fifteen feet long.)
Two Hose Clamps for Vinyl Tubing
A cooler
Some Water
Some Ice
The Step By Step Directions To Follow Are:
- Remove the screen from your fan (or keep it on if you are worried about removing it, either way will work.)
- Lie screen flat and make sure you note which end is the top and which is the bottom. Then put the copper tubing on the fan in the middle. Zip tie the copper tubing around your fan screen. When you are finished, all of the copper tubing should be on your fan's screen.
- Take your copper covered fan screen and attach it back onto your fan's base. Make sure it is secure.
- Take the copper tubing from the top of the fan and bend it so it is extending straight back. Attach your plastic tubes to the copper tubing that is extended out.
- Turn on the fan to make sure there is no vibrations and no sound.
- Attach fountain pump to the plastic tube. Make sure your pump is opened all the way.
- Place pump into your cooler. Make sure second tube (return tube) is short enough so it doesn't go down into cooler.
- Attach tubes together with some zip ties so your return tube doesn't come out of your cooler.
- Add ice to your cooler and then add some water. Add some more ice and close your cooler.
- Now turn on your pump to make sure it is pumping the cool water out of the tube and there aren't any problems with leaks. It should pump the water from the cooler to the fan and back again. Then turn on your fan and enjoy!
Finished!
As you can see, this fan AC unit isn't complicated and it works great. It works so well you may want to make as many as you can! Have you tried turning a fan into an AC unit before?
