The Tools And Materials You Need To Gather Are:
-welder/rods
-grinder
-sanding/grinding /cutting discs
-1 inch plate
-2 inch round stock
-1 inch round stock
-1/2 inch round stock
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
1 Acquiring parts,pieces
I had a chunk of 1 inch steel plate rusting under my carport, use it for the body. I took it to a machine shop and had it plasma cut into 6 4 x 8 inch chunks and 2 4 inch chunks. Bevel, grind edges, 6010 weld, cap, pad with 7018.
2 Grind top of body flat, level.Have couple holes cut in top plate, plug weld to body. Assemble parts, begin tacking together. Bevel corners, root, weld 6010, 7018 cap.
Weld a little, flip, weld, flip,weld.
3 Assembling main componentsWeld body to base. Machine shop cut top plate, doubler plate for hardie, pritchel holes. 1/2″ thick, 4 x 14, 4 x 4 by 1 inch block where horn comes off, with another smaller piece of 1″ plate under that for support. Horn was 2 inch round stock, with 1 inch and 1/2 inch welded to that. Then it's a matter of welding and grinding and welding and grinding.
The Additional Directions To Follow:
Railroads spikes were added and welded to the side of the horn so that it was a little bit wider. Gussets were used which were made from a three-eights plate on the back and the front. Then each corner was beveled and everything was welded.
Now you have to clean everything and then seal it.
Bbq paint was used underneath and then beeswax combined with a little bit of inseed oil along with turpentine for the rest of it.
Finished!
