Once you have reached your bug out shelter or have finished setting up camp, you will want to set a perimeter around the area that you will be staying.
You can make this perimeter as big or as small as you want it to be however we recommend putting some countertracking trip wires in a few spots so you know which direction your tracker is coming from. We recommend about 200 yards away from your camp t give you enough time to react. Remember not everyone who is out there is an enemy but you can bever be too careful and it is always better to err on the side of caution. Especially when it comes to your safety.
What you will need:
- Some form of tightly wound wire. Many use fishing wire, but it cannot have any give to it so if you do utilize fishing wire make sure that it is braided.
- A small air horn
- Eyelets (the small kind like the ones you screw into a wall)
Directions:
Grab a stick or branch of some sort and tie your trip wire to it. You can also use a tree, but the important thing is to make sure that your wire is about 8 to 12 inches off the ground. At this height chances are your tracker will not see it especially if it blends in with your surroundings.
You can run the trip wire around your entire permitter or simply in a pathway that you are sure they will go. The point is to put it in areas where you are the most vulnerable and do so far enough away that you have time to get your things and leave but close enough that you can hear the alarm when it sounds.
If you are attaching the tripwire to a tree, this is where the eyelets come in handy. Screw them into the tree, and you will have the ability to angle it any way you want it to be angled.
Now that you have your trip wire anchored you will want to stretch it out and tie the other end to a small branch or stick. This tick will be supporting a large item (large rocks work best) that will be balanced over the air horn.
To secure the air horn, you will want to dig a hole and bury the air horn in the hole leaving only the top part of the horn exposed. Balance the rock over the air horn with the second end of the trip wire, and there you have it. Your non-lethal tripwire countertracking alarm is all set.
Once the alarm sounds, hopefully, this will scare your tracker off, but you need to be quick at grabbing your supplies and getting out of dodge.
