Knowing how to start a fire is crucial to staying alive out in the wild. Not only will fire protect you from predators but it will keep you warm and provide you with a heat source to cook meat so that you can avoid starvation.
However starting a fire can be a daunting process if you are used to modern comforts.
Even if you are prepared and have matches or a lighter at some point your supplies will run out and you will be forced to try and figure out how to start a fire with whatever you can find around you. So rather than be caught in that situation let's look at how we can prepare ourselves by learning from those who have been there before.
What I love about this video is that unlike other how to videos (which are great in their own right) this one is truly coming from the perspective of someone who knows what it is to survive. He shows remarkable skill, and precision and you know that this is not something he learned by reading it in a book but that it is something that is as normal for him as lighting a match is for us.
We can learn a lot from those who truly live a life off of the land.

It wastes ALOT of energy. Why not upgrade to a bow drill setup instead?
