
Here are the complete instructions to tying a horizontal lashing. You'll need to know how to tie a clove hitch to do this.
Step 1: First, start out with your trusty clove hitch.
Step 2: Take the other end of the cordage and proceed to slip it under the next piece of the object.
Step 3: Then you you over the next. And over the next. And under the next… etc
Step 4: About halfway through your cordages after step three you will wrap the cordage around the object and then switch directions.
Once you run out of cordage, tie off the lashing with another clove hitch. And you're done! Obviously, we did this on a small scale to show you the detail of the wrapping but this is a great knot to use on a large scale.
