This DIY Still Is Surprisingly Easy to Make

  • There Are Tons of Uses for This Handy Contraption

When you think of a still, you may think of distilling alcohol, but that's just one use for this piece of equipment. In fact, you can also use it to transform salt water into drinking water. How cool is that? We recently discovered an inexpensive and easy to make DIY still that's incredibly user-friendly and a weekend DIY project that's definitely worth the time and effort.

One word of caution: Don't use this still for alcohol, because that's illegal without a permit. It's also potentially dangerous and requires a great deal of not only skill but also experience. Also, before you start, find out what the boiling point is for whatever liquid you're going to use. You need to know this so you can keep the heat source at the appropriate temperature so that the liquid turns to gas and travels through the copper tubing used in the still.
