  • For any nature survivalist, it's essential to know which plants can prove beneficial in certain situations. Staying informed and updated on these beneficial plant species can make a huge difference whether you're trekking in the woods for multiple days or just camping with your family for a night. You can prepare for an outdoor excursion as much as possible, but chances are you'll probably forget something you'll need down the road.

    One of those items you might forget or run out of is toilet paper. What would you do without it? There's a certain plant that doubles as toilet paper and as a medicinal substance. Once you learn to identify it, you'll feel much more comfortable about entering the woods. This plant is also native to North America so it's available in most forests across the continent. I'll give you a hint: its nicknames include bunny ears, tinder plant and donkey ears.

      You can also grow lambs ears, same reason. But mullein is a bennial, and lambs ears is perennial. So, makes more sense to me to grow lambs ears.

      I had lambs ear before. Looked it up. Google said it was used in place of bandages during the Civil War. Can be invasive.

      I have volunteers in my yard. My mother in law used to make mullein tea for colds. My sisters in law have continued making the tea.

      This plant is good for lots…. Very healing I make teas and edibles from it every year. And yes it’s good for clearing out the lungs …. It grows wild here and have lots of it. I also use the primrose plant in the same manner. I make a beautiful full plant tea including the roots, and it taste actually the most like actual tea in comparison to other wild plants I tea… Yummy and healthy .. Kid friendly and also pet friendly…you can also smoke the dried leaves and flowers.

      Do not use as toilet paper! Tiny hairs can cause a great amount of itching.

      Lambs ear grows wild where I live so any time we go hiking no tp is carried with us. It has so many uses that it is truly one of the plants that is a hikers best friend.

      You’re gonna have a sore butt if you wipe with this. Mullein has tiny hairs on it that will poke you like a needle and get down in your skin! But if you want to heal your lungs you can smoke it or inhale the smoke from it. Also useful made into a tea or cough syrup (strained)
