The encore would be the better option since it can be had in a greater selection of calibers with a more robust frame.
I shot a Contender years ago with a rifle cartridge, I believe it was either 30-30 or 30.06…WOW…could have been nasty if it had come back another 1″…Better be prepared when shooting rifle caliber rounds from a handgun.

Try it in 45/70 !
When it come to a pistol I wont a 45 or a 357. in Rifles I wont a 30.06 or and m14 or a M1 grand all of these are real fire power and can reach out and tuch some one.
