How To Make A Small Metal Foundry

  • For the aspiring blacksmith acquiring all of the tools necessary can get quite pricey. There are so many things that need to be purchased that it can be overwhelming, however, there is a simpler solution…DIY

With this mini metal foundry, anyone can melt aluminum and repurpose it into all sorts of valuable items that will come in handy not just now but after SHTF. It's also an amazing skill to have added to your wheel house. I would encourage anyone looking to live off the grid, prepping or homesteading to learn this craft as you never know when you will need it.

The diy-er responsible for creating the foundry says this particular model is his 11th prototype so this is something that has been tested over and over again and as you can see from the video footage it works amazingly well.

Additionally, because we never want anyone to say we didn't warn them:

    Warning!
Charcoal foundries can reach temperatures in excess of 1,000ºC, which is well above the melting point of hobbyists. This project should only be attempted with adequate knowledge and training, proper protective safety gear, and in a fire resistant area with adequate ventilation. The sparks flying from the foundry can ignite fires, and the fumes from burning dross can be toxic. Use caution and common sense.

Now that all that is out of the way let's keep reading and take a look at how to make this amazing item.

My brother and I already tried to do this on a smaller scale. It is in the works. Lowers anyone?

I’ve thought about that too. I’ve got one with the stamped steel. No lower needed. I may build one of those later
