Ever since I was a child and my parents and I watched Swiss Family Robinson, I have been fascinated with that sort of off the grid explorer lifestyle. My parents always encouraged me to go outside and play, and my father even allowed me to borrow his tools when I needed to make tree forts which happened more often than not.

I was lucky enough to live just down the road from a lake, so fishing was a big part of my childhood as well. I remember having a dingy old boat that was a discard from an uncle who upgraded his, but it was all that we needed.

I wish at that time I would have had the foresight to make something like this raft! It's so simple in its design yet it is exactly what is needed. There is ample storage space for gear, fish, and everything you need for a great day out on the lake.
