8 Foot Gator Crashes Florida Family’s Memorial Day Celebration

  • Anyone who owns a pool knows that if it's not screened in properly then occasionally you may find a reptile or two stopping by for a leisurely swim.

As a pool owner myself, and a southerner, I can tell you I have found all sorts of frogs, spiders, and occasionally a snake in our pool. The last snake encounter is why our pool is now fully screened in. Yet I can honestly say that I have NEVER experienced what this Sarasota Florida family experienced this Memorial Day.

Imagine walking out, ready to have a nice day of relaxing only to find your pool has been hijacked by an eight-foot gator!

The gator seemed perfectly happy where he was and decided he wasn't going to go without a fight. Once the trapper was able to get the loop around the gator's neck the gator went into a full on barrel roll trying to fight off the trapper.  The trapper, however, was able to move the gator without harm and relocate him to a safer area and the family was able to continue on and enjoy their holiday.

I am sure this will be a story that gets told often for this family and let's hope they screen in that pool sometime soon.
